Charlie Johnson, born in 1964, is a master carver of the Kwaguilth First Nation. Following in the footsteps of his father, Sam Johnson, Charlie began his carving journey at fifteen, driven by a deep connection to his cultural heritage. His expertise spans wood carving with a particular mastery of masks, rattles, and bowls—forms that reflect centuries of Kwakwaka'wakw artistic tradition. Collaborating with renowned carvers including Beau Dick, Simon Dick, and Joe Peters, Charlie has refined his craft to museum quality. His pieces are held in prestigious collections worldwide, each one a testament to his skill, cultural knowledge, and artistic vision.
