Hollie Bear Bartlett is a member of the Haisla Nation whose family crest is the Killer Whale—a symbol of strength and hunting prowess. Her artistic journey began in Vancouver as a photographer for Kahtou News: The Voice of BC First Nations, before transitioning to jewelry in 1998 through an apprenticeship with Master Carver Corrine Hunt (Kwakwaka'wakw/Tlingit). Under Corrine's mentorship, Hollie mastered gold and silversmithing, stone setting, casting, and overlay techniques, further refining her craft alongside contemporary goldsmith Michael Reynolds. Her signature style is defined by exceptionally fine hatching and crosshatching, precise stone setting, and masterful manipulation of gold and silver. Each piece reflects her deep connection to Indigenous artistic traditions and technical excellence.
